[{"_id":"project:14063","_type":"project","abstract":{"sv":"Dettaa forskningsnätverk kommer att föra samman fyra experter från en rad disciplinära inriktningar och institutioner i Sverige, Storbritannien, och Benelux-länderna, som delar ett gemensamt intresse i den särskilda karaktären hos Fristaten Kongo och i dess konsekvenser för gängse tänkandet kring kolonialismens historia och den europeiska kulturen. Programmets fokus kommer att ligga på Fristaten Kongo och perioden omedelbart efter kolonins formella överlåtelse till den belgiska staten 1908, det vill säga från cirka 1880 till 1930. Dess övergripande syfte är att skapa och upprätthålla en tvärvetenskaplig forskningsdialog inom detta område som kan (1)  utgöra grunden för en omvärdering av denna avgörande episod i relationen mellan Europa och Afrika, (2) fastställa betydelsen av ett specifikt transnationellt perspektiv på den europeiska koloniala historien, och (3) gör det möjligt att utveckla nya teoretiska modeller för att analysera kultur och imperialism. Därmed kommer nätverket att följa en två och halvt år program omfattande årliga offentliga symposier med internationellt erkända ledare i en rad närliggande områden, en serie gemensamma publikationer, en särskild webbplats för projektet och digitalt arkiv av nya primärmaterial, och årliga vetenskapliga möten mellan deltagarna i nätverket.","en":"This research network will bring together four experts from a range of disciplinary specializations and institutions in Sweden, Britain, and the Low Countries, who share a common interest in the special nature of the Congo Free State and its implications for current thinking about colonial history and European culture. The programme’s focus will be on the Congo Free State and the period immediately following the colony’s formal transfer to the Belgian state in 1908, that is, from approximately 1880 to 1930. Its overarching aim is to create and sustain an interdisciplinary research dialogue on this field that will (1) provide the foundation for a major reappraisal of this crucial episode in the relationship between Europe and Africa, (2) establish the importance of a specifically transnational perspective on European colonial history, and (3) enable the development of new theoretical models for analysing culture and imperialism. Earlier studies have shown their single-phase prospects in electro-devices, while in this work, we have quantitatively reported the electronic properties of their dual-phase materials, that is, Mg-Mg2Ni alloys, and analyzed the underlying reasons behind the property changes of materials. The hypoeutectic Mg-Mg2Ni alloys are found to be evidently more conductive than the hypereutectic Mg-Mg2Ni system. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations give the intrinsic origin of electronic structures of both Mg2Ni and Mg. The morphology of quasi-nanoscale eutectics is another factor that can affect the electronic properties of the investigated alloy system; that is, the electrical property change of the investigated alloys system is due to a combination of the intrinsic property difference between the two constituting phases and the change of eutectic microstructures that affect electron scattering.
